Comments/questions Explanations/answers
There is a person who wants to be an animator one day. They want Rebecca to explain to them her usual work day, what do they need to animate to make money, do they have a lot of freelancing or a safe job in animation, and what works better.

EXPLANATION: She gets out of bed, she fiddles on her phone for a while, she goes to work, and freelances for a long time, and in the evening, she works on personal stuff. It's her content in which her fans see on YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and other social media she uses. She considered herself as a freelancer, which isn't the most stable job ever, because the animation industry isn't known for its stability. She hops from the studio all the time. She can't keep track on her friends all the time because they are sometimes working on Disney, and sometimes, they're doing something else in Florida. Freelancing isn't the easiest job because there is a lot of freelancing.

SUMMARY: If freelancing makes them happy, then they could do it.

Someone asked what Rebecca thinks of Japanese animation.

EXPLANATION: She likes it. She says that Japan treats animation as a medium and not a genre. Americans associate everything as animation and treat it as something family-friendly, while Japan has a wider variety of different types of stories, such as mystery, romance, comedy, sci-fi and horror. She really appreciates that, and wished for something similar in her country. Though, the thing is, she thinks that Japanese animators are kind of treated like slaves.

SUMMARY: She likes Japanese animation, but she wouldn't want to work on a Japanese animation studio.

Several people asked if 2D animation is dying. Is it not worth studying?

EXPLANATION: Rebecca says that 3D animators are most likely professional 2D animators too. When she was in her college, she had to take two semesters of 2D animation, before even touching a computer. That's where she learns the 12 principles of animation. Studios expect people to be versatile in 2D and 3D animation.

SUMMARY: 2D animation is still generally important in the animation industry, so if one wants to be an animator, one needs to study 2D animation.

A person asked what computer Rebecca uses. She uses a Dell XPS, and she also uses a Cintiq tablet. They are both used for animating.
A person asked if animation covers a spectrum of jobs and skills.

EXPLANATION: For 3D animation, there are a lot of different steps for a movie to be made. First, one needs to write and storyboard the entire film. Next, one needs to do concept art, then set character and prop designs, then figure out the basic look and feel of the entire film, then making character models. Then, there's the layout to set the animation, the lighting, the composition etc. When one wants to include themselves in the animation, they need to think of the character and the model. At her college, they had very complete animation projects, a storyboard, concept art for characters, design modelling, rig their own character and animate it. One also needed to do compositing, lighting, singing etc. By the end of the thesis, she decided that she really liked animation and stories. She has a theatrical background, which lends itself to being able to tell a story and putting the animator in a character's position and acting.

SUMMARY: There are many steps to develop an entire film, and the entire process would be difficult and would take a lot of time and dedication. Basically, one needs to research the process and figure out how it will be done, whatever brings them the most joy.

Somebody asked if Rebecca works alone. Rebecca works alone.
Somebody asked what got Rebecca into animation.

EXPLANATIONS: She loved cartoons, and at one time, Nickelodeon, her favorite channel, represented the behind the scenes of one of their cartoons during a commercial break, giving her the initial idea to become an animator. Many years later, she went into a theater college, but because it wouldn't work out well for her, she switched to an animation college.

SUMMARY: Nickelodeon inspired her to become an animator.
