Getting Recognized Stories is an animated video featuring a series of stories created by Rebecca Parham.

Synopsis[]

In this video, Rebecca explains a few of her stories of her getting recognized by other people.

Stories[]

High school kid story[]

Sometime in 2017-2018, she was at the grocery store. She got in line for the checkout and there was a high school kid and his mother in front of her. She had no makeup on and she wore glasses, thinking she would be recognized less. Case in point, while she was standing there in line, she noticed the high school guy started to stare at her for a long time, he pulled out his phone, searched for something, and then began to look between her and his phone a few times. When the kid's mother finished paying and began wheeling her basket away, she was yelling at him to "Get out, we're going!". He looked back at her rather frantically and asked her if she is Rebecca Parham, then Rebecca said "yes", then the kid took a picture with her and left.

Little girl story[]

Also in a grocery store, a little girl once followed Rebecca around the pharmacy section of Target. Every time sh stopped in an aisle and looked something, she'd stand six feet from her and pretend she was looking at the shelves too. She side-eyed glanced atherme a lot, but never did say anything to her. She wasn't wearing makeup that day either and didn't look really recognizable.

40-year-old man story[]

With Rebecca thinking that her audience is mostly young people, including kids, teens, and early college students, she doesn't expect older people to approach to her. So, when she and her mother were in the airport and they walked up to their gate, she was rather surprised when a man traveling alone in his 40s came up to her and asked if she was Rebecca. She'd expect a person her age to ask something different like asking for the flight to London or remembering an old show. The man watched her videos with his daughter.

Real estate agent story[]

In 2020, Rebecca was looking to rent a house in Los Angeles (she didn't actually move there), and when she got there, she was greeted by a real estate agent, a woman who looked to be about in her late 40s. She walked her around, told her about the place, but as she was leaving, the real estate agent said that she loves her videos. She has no kids and watches Rebecca's videos alone.

Recognition from a car story[]

Back in 2019, Rebecca was in downtown San Antonio for San Japan, an anime convention, she was there to sing at a concert with Caleb Hyles, Annapantsu, and CG5. The night before the convention started, they all went to dinner and when they were done, they called an Uber to get back to the hotel. She was in the front seat and Caleb was in the back seat, directly behind her. Over her shoulder, the car stopped at a red light, and while they were sitting there, some movement outside of my window caught her eye. She looked up and saw a kid desperately moving in his car to talk to Rebecca.

Nerd shirt story[]

Back in 2018-2019, Rebecca was at Disney World with her family, and on this particular day, they were at Epcot. David and Rebecca were waiting outside the bathrooms for their mother and their sister Rachel, when a girl walked by and noticed that David was wearing an aperture laboratory's t-shirt. The nerd stopped and said that she really like David's shirt, then Rebecca couldn't help but notice that the girl was wearing a Spirited Away shirt, and complimented it. Rebecca then noticed how she was looking at her. The nerd was staring very intently and squinting her eyes in suspicion. Immediately, she thought Rebecca had said something stupid, but then, the nerd responded by saying that Rebecca sounded familiar. Rebecca recited her intro and that was all she needed to hear. Because of David and his shirt, she got recognized by the nerd.

  • At around 5:50, the door for the ladies bathroom has a Minnie Mouse symbol.

Trivia[]

  • This is the second major video in 2021.
  • This is the third video to feature multiple stories in one, the first being Backyard Stories, and the second being Daycare Stories.
  • This is currently the largest collection of stories in one video.
  • At some point, the real estate agent story was cut out.
